Where Things Have Been, Have Always Been
(Performances throughout the month of August 2017 for one to two witnesses,
Followed by video works produced in September 2017)
This work of washing my family's home and furniture is representative of the work of my mother, my mother's mother, and her mother's mother. The work is loving. This is the house I grew up in and every single speck of matter Matters. This is less about female labor, but a violent, desperate love to honor the material itself. Stair, splinter, crumble of old linoleum, dust bunny, scattering of years old road salt, et cetera. The videos are the resulting documentation of the washings from the summer of 2017.
